PSY101-01 General Psych Fall 2016 Final exam
This exam has four essays questions to complete over the Psych textbook, and the Exploring Psychology and Christian faith book. Please copy them (all essays on a single document) to a Word document, and answer them by the upcoming Friday at midnight. Please follow all conventions indicated by APA writing standards. That would include 1″ margins, 12 point font (Times New Roman), double spacing, page numbering and the necessary citations according to APA standards. There is no minimum of words expected for the essay answer. Make every effort to answer the questions with thoroughness and detail. I will tell you that anything under 300 words will receive a failing grade since it is the bare minimum of length to answer any of the questions in this exam.
Please answer the following questions:
1. Describe two mnemonic techniques that would enable you to remember the following list of grocery items: milk, eggs, margarine, oranges, rhubarb, ice cream, eggplant, and sausage. Explain why each would be effective.
2. Abraham Maslow suggested that ?a person who is lacking food, love, and self-esteem would most likely hunger for food more strongly than anything else.? Conversely, the novelist Dostoyevski wrote, ?without a firm idea of himself and the purpose of his life, man cannot live even if surrounded with bread.? Give evidence that would lead you to support both statements.
3. If you take Paul Vitz?s ?covenant theory? of personality seriously, how would this influence the way you might change your own personality?
4. How do you explain the type of suffering that some people experience with mental illness? According to the authors of “Exploring Psychology and Christian Faith, why does God allow people to have these difficulties? Which point of view do you agree with and why?
